Melbourne Cricket Club Members Access Membership Benefits in a Mobile App

MCC membership experience

Have you ever wondered how you might make your membership experience better?  The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) did just that with the launch of the MCC app.

The MCC has long been one of the premium membership clubs for sporting fans in Australia with their membership linked to access of the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).  Founded in 1838 by five men who agreed to form a cricket club now known as the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC).

Now a leader in membership experiences, the MCC offers a variety of channels for members to manage their account, access benefits and be rewarded for their loyalty.  The Club uses a variety of technology solutions and payment applications to manage their membership experience.  Members can access their account and manage payments through the Club’s website, and MCC App both of which are connected to the Club’s membership database.

An Innovative Membership Card

The MCC membership card (MCC Plus card) is both a membership and payment card.  On one side it has a barcode that enables entrance to the Members’ Reserve at the MCG, the largest stadium in the Southern Hemisphere. On the other side, it’s a closed loop reloadable eftpos card.  This means that members can load funds onto the card which can then be used within the numerous bars, cafes and dining facilities in the MCC Members’ Reserve at the stadium. It’s a closed loop reloadable eftpos card – like you might see retailers selling to load funds onto to be used as gift vouchers.  When members use the card to pay for food and drinks, they access a membership benefit which is a 5% rebate loaded back onto their account ready to use at the next event they attend.

Members can manage their payments through two key channels

Channel 1: Membership Website

Members can log into their membership account on the MCC website to view/update details, make a payment and manage their MCC Plus card.  They can view their transaction history (date, amount, and description) via the website.  Members can load funds onto the account via a bank transfer or a credit card.  The MCC uses the Linkly payment gateway to process fund load transactions from credit cards to the MCC Plus card.  This is done through a secure and PCI DSS compliant solution using the Linkly Payment Gateway.

Channel 2: Mobile App

Available through the Apple App store and Google Play store, the MCC app offers a variety of features.  Firstly, it contains the digital membership card allowing access to the MCC Members’ Reserve at the MCG. It enables members to view upcoming event and function information, submit dining and function bookings, apply for internal passes for their guests to access member-only areas like the Long Room or balcony seating areas and navigate through to Ticketek to purchase reserved seats for themselves or visitor tickets for their guests.  It allows members to manage their membership and access important information relating to their category of membership.  Members can also manage their MCC Plus card balance.  That means viewing the amount, transactions and loading more funds onto the MCC Plus card.  This is also powered by the Linkly Online Payment Gateway.

The MCC have also enabled members to provision their MCC Plus card to their digital wallet on their Apple or Android device.  This then allows members to tap their card via their digital wallet to pay for food and drinks.

A commitment to improving membership experience has meant that the MCC has evolved into a sophisticated user of payment technology which the Club intends on extending in the future.

Reliable and Secure: Two words to describe both Aurora Energy and the Linkly Voice IVR product.

Energy power lines

Aurora Energy is Tasmania’s leading energy retailer, providing trusted service to more than 280,000 customers across the state.  As such it needs the leading phone payment system in Australia – which is why they chose to use Linkly’s Voice product (IVR).

Linkly’s Voice product (IVR) allows Aurora Energy to offer customers a secure and accessible payment channel in the form of an IVR.  Offering accessible payment channels to all is important, however it also redirects thousands of payments away from their call centre, saving them time and money.  This allows their staff to focus on delivering value to their customers instead of spending time on repetitive tasks such as processing payments.

Linkly’s Voice product (IVR) is 100% PCI DSS compliant.  Customer credit card data is stored securely in the data vault.  Our security is tested and certified annually to ensure compliance with international data security standards.

When asked what they like best about the solution the Aurora Energy team said “It just works.  We don’t have to think about it.”  That’s one of the best things you can hear about your payment solution – it is so reliable, and secure that it hums along in the background, and no one needs to worry about it.

Aurora Energy continue to explore innovate products and services, including providing a variety of payment channels for their customers.  Part of that suite is aurora+, its digital channel designed to help Tasmanians better understand and control their energy costs.  The app allows users to make simple payments, view their usage to find efficiencies, benefit from free Power Hours, track solar if they have it and conveniently manage their account from a smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.

“We are looking forward to working with Aurora Energy into the future with our IVR services.” Andrew Joyce, Linkly’s Chief Executive Officer.

Linkly Bridge for Oracle

Linkly launching Oracle POS integration for the Big 4
banks

True to its two-decade track record as Australia and New Zealand’s leader in providing integrated payment solutions, Linkly is launching a new Oracle integration for Food and Beverage point of sale.

This integration includes the rollout across Oracle MICROS Simphony Point-of-Sale systems which are widely used across food and beverage establishments in Australia.

As Australia’s largest point of sale integrator, this partnership allows Linkly to offer seamless integration with major acquirers and payment terminals to F&B merchants who are using Oracle’s POS solutions.

This includes the processing of payments from customers of Australia’s four biggest banks – CBA, Westpac, NAB and ANZ – a capability that wasn’t available before the Oracle-Linkly integration.

This integration connects Oracle’s POS system to the acquirer or bank that supplied the payment terminal, allowing a faster and more efficient payment processing. It automatically sends the total charge from the POS to the terminal, eliminating the need for cashiers to manually re-pin the amount ensuring an error-free transaction.

“At Linkly, we are about simplifying the payment journey for businesses and their customers, creating seamless experiences,” says Frerk-Malte Feller. “We are thrilled to partner with Oracle and we can’t wait to see restaurants, cafes and other food and beverage establishments across the country reaping the benefits of this integration.”

Linkly’s solution supports all major acquirers with no changes to existing terminal software or current merchant onboarding processes.

This non-disruptive migration is powered by a software developed by Linkly called the Linkly Bridge for Oracle which bridges the existing Linkly software to the Oracle POS. This connection ensures that existing payment providers are automatically compatible with the Oracle POS and can offer integration to merchants with zero downtime.

With Linkly, Oracle POS merchants can have their customers pay at the counter, as well as complete purchases, refunds, settlement, tipping, and all common transaction types.

The Linkly solution is compatible with Simphony v2.9+, RES 3700 v5.5+ and e7 POS v4.4. It works with the Simphony Payment Interface (SPI) and Oracle Payment Interface (OPI). The integration will soon be extended to other Oracle POS solutions, including Oracle Hotel POS.

The Linkly Bridge for Oracle is available on Oracle Cloud
Marketplace
and can be deployed with Oracle
MICROS Simphony Point-of-Sale.
